Petrified Wood: The World of Fossilized
Wood, Cones, Ferns, & Cycads
by Frank J. Daniels

11 October 2006 --Did you ever wonder what petrified wood is, where it comes from and from what kind of tree? This book takes a giant step forward, for the enthusiast, in identification of many types of petrified wood from around the world. Mr. Daniels discusses the mineralogy of wood, why the colors and preservation are different, and the geology of the deposits (why some wood preserves and some doesn't). Most of the book deals with petrified wood from all around the world. Each example is cut, polished and labeled with country, age and type of tree.
